Out of nowhere I cannot get a signal from my vcr to my tv. rf cable
out to input of tv, channel 3 and nothing. I used the same cable on
another tv and I am able to get it...but I want it on my main
projector tv not my kitchen portable. So there is nothing wrong with
the cable, I am also able to get my channels and hdtv on the projector
TV..so there is nothing wrong with the TV...am at a complete impasse.
BTW, this all happened when I tried to hook up my converter
box...which is working fine...Is there such a splitter that has 2
inputs instead of the typical 2 x 1 splitters?

Does your "TV" accept composite (RCA) A/V? If so, does the composite output
of your VCR to the composite input of the TV work OK? If so, either your
VCR's modulator has gone bad, or you are hooking it up incorrectly. Most 1->2
splitters also work as 2->1 combiners. What aren't you telling us?

Well this problem all started with trying to include my converter box,
like I said earlier. I finally got the vcr to work...but now I only
get one channel from the converter box...before I got the maximum for
my area. I only have one rf input on my TV, so am at a loss on how to
connect to the box Antenna In and my TV input, plus also need to
connect to the TV input via vcr if I want to do my normal recording. I
tried the Radio shack 2 x 1 combiner splitter without any
success...The irony of this connection is that i also have the audio/
video rca cables of the box going to my TV so why would I need the RF
connection ...I thought its one or the other. But obviously, I do
need the box connected to my antenna input, so I could setup the box
the right way. Its getting so I am having cable nightmares.

if I understand you correctly, you are trying to connect a normal
aerial and a cable system to your tv and vcr together, via RF
connections. I advise against this, as merging the two signals will
produce a bad picture.

try connncting :
-aerial to vcr RF in
-vcr RF out to Tv aerial in
( this allows you to watch and tape off-air)
-cable box RCA composite out (and audio out) to VCR line in.
if the box has a second set of RCA outs, you could connect them to the
tv direct; otherwise you would need the video switched on and set to
the AV input to view cable tv.

I now officially have no idea of how you currently have it wired or exactly
what you are trying to do. Best if you let somebody that can actually *see*
what you are doing help you out.

No, if your composite A/V is connected you do not need the RF channel 3/4.
You must be doing something wrong. Read:

http://www.ramelectronics.net/template-resources/docs/CONNECTION-DIAGRAM.pdf

Your cable box, VCR, or TV manual(s) should all have wiring guides to assist
you. For example:

Nice color-coded wiring diagrams for cable box, VCR, and TV.

Thanks UCLAN...i will check out those links...unfortunately, the
manual's are outdated...everyone has different layouts of their
system...just to give u an idea..I have OTA ( mainly for backup and
excellent pictures of local channels, before cable gave them to
me )...I have a vcr, a projector TV, DVD, and now the box...and oh
yes, stereo system ( but that is no problem )..I have managed to get
it all setup now, but I'm sure there must be a better way. For now, I
hate to mess up a good thing...This was done, after my last post. I
did split my Ota into the box and TV and got my box all setup right,
am able to record and view cable and the OTA...the one thing I don't
have is recording my STB, as I did before with my OTA...but that is no
big deal as long as I can get my local's on the cable setup.. I am
also able to take advantage of my PIP...view stb and ota.
