I am trying to gauge the longevity of support to VHS format with the
BETA format. As of the time of this post I can still buy Maxell, Sony,
and JVC band VHS tapes at my local Rite-aid while I can only buy JVC
SVHS tape online - how is the availability where YOU live?

Pretty much the same as you though ABC Warehouse here in the
metro-Detroit area still has sales of VHS tapes (I bought a box of 10
Kodak tapes on sale last year).

Someone will keep making tape and as the old vcr's break down someone
will make new ones. Just look at the resurgence of vinyl records and
turntables.

I used to buy in bulk from the local Target and Walmart, when I stopped
the stores stocked only a few small packs. Just bought a big batch on
line.

My initial question and replies got me thinking - when was the last time you
could buy BETA cassettes at your local store?

There was a store in Livonia, Michigan (Video Liquidators) that sold
blank Beta tape also had a good selection of pre-recorded Beta to rent
or buy. They sold or rented used Beta vcr's, too. Closed down a few
years ago.
