I have a VHS tape with tracking noise covering the middle area of the
film.
I have played this tape through several VCRs and in all instances the
noise/tracking issue dominates the image. Is it possible that this can
be
corrected? Is it embedded in the tape? Perhaps moving it to another
blank
cartridge? This is a lecture - and the audio is fine - however, to
preseve
the video would be ideal. Let me know if this anomoly can be
corrected?
I've used several standard VCRs, and a couple VCR miniDv dub combos
in my attempts to corrrect this problem.
I'd be willing to send it out to a professional. There must be a
rememdy.

Thanks

sounds like the tape was recorded on a misaligned deck, or one which
didn't lace the tape up properly. if that's the case there's probably
no remedy. does the band of interference shift at all when the
tracking is moved?
also, you might want to open the flap of the cassette and check to see
if there is a line scored down the centre of the tape. this is caused
by dirt on the tape path rubbing on the tape.
