I've been using vcrs for 30 years and am getting ready to transit to
recordable DVD players due to blanks in large quantity being hard to
get. I've been using the 446 and 448 models. Recently one of the 448s I
bought used developed a strange problem I've never encountered before.
Instead of recording in EP on a timer or just set to record it would at
times go into play at SP and thus not record anything, sometimes it
would start recording then maybe 2 or 3 hours along switch into play at
SP ( I would discover this when I reviewed the tape ) I changed the
player with another 448 I also bought used and it did exactly the same
thing ! You cannot tell from looking at the front panel of the 448 if
it is playing or recording. I have put in a 446 now. I have 6 vcrs on
line , 3 in 2 different rooms. The 448 seemed to take a command from the
remote sometimes even when the remote was pointed 180 degrees in the
opposite direction, but this has not explained what's been happening. I
would have thought there was something wrong with the internal
circuitry, but two recorders both having the same problem which I've
never seen before ? The units can still be used for play only, but any
ideas, I've tried everything as far as trouble shooting ? thanks
